Witness sync
Rijk licht op verzoek van de GAB toe wat de stand van zaken met witness sync (versneld synchroniseren van witness accounts) is. Malcolm is klaar met witness sync maar kan dit niet volledig implementeren vanwege een bug. De bug heeft altijd al in de code van Gulden gezeten maar heeft pas na enkele voorbereidende implementaties voor witness sync eind vorig jaar voor grote problemen gezorgd in de chain. Malcolm heeft toen met enkele aanpassingen een tijdelijke oplossing geïmplementeerd maar zit wat betreft een structurele oplossing op een dood spoor. Volgens Rijk is het noodzaak om de bug eruit te halen omdat het risico groot is dat vroeg of laat de bug weer de kop op steekt en de chain weer vastloopt. Het is zelfs mogelijk dat we hierdoor de listing bij Bittrex verliezen. Daarom heeft Rijk aan de GAB gevraagd om 1/3 deel van de gespaarde BTC voor een exchange listing in te zetten voor een poging de bug op te lossen. Rijk heeft Willem bereid gevonden 16u per week hieraan te besteden gedurende een maand. Willem heeft in het verleden aan witness gewerkt en is bekend met de code. Willem verwacht dat hij de bug kan oplossen maar het is afwachten of dat lukt. De GAB heeft eerder al unaniem ingestemd met het besteden van 1/3 deel van de BTC hiervoor.
Koers
De GAB constateert dat er een redelijk negatief sentiment heerst in de community omdat Gulden alleen maar verder lijkt te dalen en inmiddels ruim onder de 1 eurocent is gezakt. De GAB is het er echter unaniem over eens dat de koers van Gulden (als decentrale munt) aan de markt is en dat ideeën voor de richting van Gulden vanuit de community moeten komen. De GAB staat er altijd voor open om te faciliteren bij ideeën uit de community met voldoende draagkracht.
DEX
Vanuit de community is gevraagd of er nog aandacht is voor de ontwikkeling van een decentrale exchange (DEX). Rijk geeft aan dat de ontwikkeling van een DEX zeer complex is en de dev reward momenteel bij lange na niet toereikend is voor de ontwikkeling van een DEX.
Dev reward
Rijk vervolgt dat de dev reward momenteel net genoeg is om de Gulden chain te onderhouden en eventueel code op te schonen. Als er echt iets substantieels gebouwd moet gaan worden dan zijn er meer inkomsten uit de dev reward nodig. Kortom, momenteel is vrijwel niets mogelijk qua ontwikkeling.
Verbetering witness
Eerder heeft de GAB aangegeven veel heil te zien in het makkelijker en toegankelijker maken van witness en legt deze wens wederom op tafel. In een notendop betekent dat dat gebruikers b.v. ook vanaf hun mobiel eenvoudig Gulden in witness kunnen zetten en dat witness makkelijker te begrijpen is en er beter overzicht is. Maar ook hier geeft Rijk aan dat de dev reward momenteel bij lange na niet toereikend is om dit te realiseren.

Witness sync
Rijk, at the request of the GAB, explains the status of witness sync (accelerated synchronization of witness accounts). Malcolm has finished witness sync but cannot fully implement it because of a bug. The bug has always been in Gulden’s code but only caused major problems in the chain after some preliminary implementations for witness sync late last year. Malcolm then implemented a temporary solution with some modifications but is at a dead end in terms of a structural solution. According to Rijk, it is necessary to get the bug out because there is a high risk that sooner or later the bug will reappear and the chain will get stuck again. It is even possible that we could lose the listing with Bittrex as a result. Therefore Rijk asked the GAB to use 1/3 of the saved BTC for an exchange listing in an attempt to solve the bug. Rijk found Willem willing to spend 16h per week on this for a month. Willem has worked on witness in the past and is familiar with the code. Willem expects to be able to solve the bug but it remains to be seen if he can. The GAB has already unanimously agreed to spend 1/3 of the BTC on this.
Price
The GAB notes that there is a fairly negative sentiment in the community because Gulden seems to only continue to decline in value and has now dropped well below 1 euro cent. However, the GAB unanimously agrees that the price of Gulden (as a decentralized currency) is up to the market and that ideas for the direction of Gulden should come from the community. The GAB is always open to facilitating ideas from the community with sufficient support.
DEX
From the community it was asked whether there is still attention for the development of a decentralized exchange (DEX). Rijk indicated that the development of a DEX is complex and that the dev reward is currently far from sufficient for the development of a DEX.
Dev reward
Rijk continues that the dev reward is currently just enough to maintain the Gulden chain and possibly to clean up the code. If something substantial were to be built, more income from the dev reward would be needed. In short, at the moment almost nothing is possible in terms of development.
Improving witness
Earlier, the GAB indicated that it would be very beneficial to make witness easier and more accessible, and they are putting this wish on the table again. In a nutshell, this means that users, for instance from their mobile phones, would be able to easily put Gulden in witness and that witness would be easier to understand and have a better overview. But here too, Rijk indicates that the dev reward is currently nowhere near sufficient to realize this.
