Notulen 29-06-2020 Online GAB meeting

Voortgang Electron

Er is veel vooruitgang geboekt. Electron wordt in eerste instantie betaald vanuit Novo, niet vanuit Gulden. Als het voor Novo klaar is, zal het voor Gulden ook zo goed als klaar zijn. Bijna alles is functioneel zonder bugs. Niet-developers kunnen veel meer meewerken omdat er voor UI designers veel meer mogelijkheden zijn in Electron t.o.v. QT.  In Augustus komt de wallet voor NOVO uit; daarna komt de update naar Electron voor Gulden uit.

Voortgang DEX

De voortgang is goed, en de inschatting dat de DEX nog in 2020 gereed zal zijn blijft gehandhaafd. De DEX zal initiëel Gulden, Novo en Bitcoin aanbieden.

Voortgang Exchange Listings

Er is inmiddels met meerdere bestaande exchange- en brokerpartijen contact opgenomen. Tot een concrete (mogelijkheid tot) listing is het hierbij nog niet gekomen. De antwoorden variëren van geen interesse tot geen technische capaciteit om een NLG listing te realiseren. Met enkele partijen is nog contact, ook zijn er partijen die nog niet gereageerd hebben.
Bovenstaande heeft wel tot iets anders moois geleid, want als Gulden moeten we wel door:

Nieuw partnership

Recentelijk is er een overleg geweest tussen Centure, een afvaardiging van de GAB en Milo van Faassen van CoinRequest. Milo wil met zijn bedrijf, in samenwerking met Centure, (een deel van) de functionaliteiten die Nocks bood opnieuw gaan opzetten voor de Gulden community. O.a. een euro pair, een checkout optie voor Gulden acceptanten (incl omzetting naar Euro) en meer. Ook zal hij als loket fungeren voor de stablecoin die de Dex gebruikt. Momenteel wordt er door beide partijen gezamenlijk uitgezocht hoe dit het beste gerealiseerd kan worden.  Een uitgebreider statement volgt nog, maar we willen jullie dit heugelijke nieuws op dit moment niet onthouden!

Vragen uit de community

  • Kan de GAB toegang krijgen tot de officiële FB en Twitter pagina’s van Gulden.com?

Rijk staat hier positief tegenover en wil mensen toevoegen die toegang krijgen tot de accounts op FB en twitter.

  • Tokeninsight gegevens updaten kan alleen door Gulden official

Als er meer mensen zijn die vinden dat het belangrijk is dat deze pagina aangevuld wordt zal de BV toegang bij Tokeninsight aanvragen zodat er aanpassingen gedaan kunnen worden.

  • Marketing Funds beheerd door de GAB

De GAB staat hier niet onwelwillend tegenover. Hoe de keys en transacties veilig beheerd worden is wel een aandachtspunt. Volgens Malcolm bestaat er een multi signature transactie systeem in Gulden, maar dat is niet gemakkelijk via de userinterface uit te voeren en bestaat uit een reeks manuele commandos (In het debugscherm). Een deel van de GAB vraagt zich af of er niet eerst consensus moet zijn over wat nu goede marketing is en wat daarr voor nodig is alvorens een potje budget aan te leggen.

  • Dex vragen (vertaald uit het Engels): Moet, als de Dex ook voor andere munten moet werken, deze geïntegreerd worden in de andere wallets? Is er al een prioriteitenlijst met gesupporte munten voor de DEX en is er al bekend of er een open-source code base gebruikt wordt, zo ja wat is deze codebase?

We focussen ons eerst op het werkend maken van de DEX voor ons zelf. Toevoegen van andere munten is van later orde. Er is daarom nog geen prioriteitenlijst met andere munten die gesupport zullen worden (los van de munten die hier al in de notulen genoemd worden). Over welke code-base gebruikt wordt en of deze open source is is op dit moment nog niks te zeggen.

  • Bestaan er plannen van het dev team om –evt. via een derde partij- apps te (laten) ontwikkelen welke gebruik maken van de Gulden blockchain

Het DEV team staat altijd open voor third party development o.b.v. de Gulden blockchain en zal deze developers bij vragen ook altijd support leveren. Er wordt momenteel door het dev team niet actief gezocht naar third party developers omdat de focus ligt op de eigen ontwikkelingen, maar als een partij interesse heeft zullen we ze altijd helpen en te woord staan.

Electron progress

A lot of progress has been made. Electron development is initially paid for by Novo, not by Gulden. When it is ready for Novo, it will be as good as ready for Gulden. Almost everything is functional without bugs. Non-developers can cooperate much more because there are many more possibilities for UI designers in Electron compared to QT.  In August the wallet for NOVO will be released; after that the update to Electron for Gulden will be released.

Progress DEX

Progress is good, and the estimate that the DEX will be ready by 2020 is maintained. The DEX will initially offer Gulden, Novo and Bitcoin.

Progress Exchange Listings

In the meantime, several existing exchange and broker parties have been contacted. This has not yet resulted in a concrete (possibility of) listing. The answers vary from no interest to no technical capacity to realise an NLG listing.
The above has led to something else beautiful, because as Gulden we have to keep going:

New partnership

Recently there has been a meeting between Centure, a delegation of the GAB and Milo van Faassen of CoinRequest. Milo and his company, in cooperation with Centure, want to re-introduce (part of the) functionalities that Nocks offered to the Gulden community. This includes a euro pair, a checkout option for Gulden merchants (including conversion to Euro) and more. It will also serve as a counter for the stablecoin that the DEX uses. At this moment both parties are working together to find out how this can be best realized.  A more extensive statement will follow, but we don’t want to deprive you of this memorable news at this moment!

Questions from the community

  • Can the GAB get access to the official FB and Twitter pages of Gulden.com?

Rijk is positive about this and wants to add people who can access the accounts on FB and twitter.

  • Tokeninsight data can only be updated by Gulden official

If there are more people who think it’s important to complete this page, the BV will request access at Tokeninsight so that adjustments can be made.

  • Marketing Funds managed by the GAB

The GAB is not opposed to this. How the keys and transactions are safely managed is, however, a point of attention. According to Malcolm, there is a multi-signature transaction system in Gulden, but this is not easy to implement via the user interface and consists of a series of manual commands (in the debug screen). Part of the GAB wonders if there shouldn’t first be a consensus on what constitutes good marketing and what is needed for it, before creating a budget.

  • Dex questions : If the Dex should also work for other currencies, should it be integrated in the other wallets? Is there already a priority list of supported coins for the DEX and is it already known if an open source code base is used, if so what is this code base?

We first focus on making the DEX work for ourselves. Adding other coins is of later order. Therefore, there is no list of other coins that will be supported yet. (Except for the onces mentioned in these notes). About which code-base is used and if it is open source is nothing to say at this moment.

  • Are there plans of the dev team to -via a third party- develop apps which use the Gulden blockchain?

The DEV team is always open for third party development based on the Gulden blockchain and will always provide support to these developers in case of questions. At the moment the dev team is not actively looking for third party developers because the focus is on their own developments, but if a party is interested we will always help them and speak to them.
